Rider age is our recommendation, not the manufacturer's. Coolster does not publish a recommended age for this model, and we would rather give you our honest read than leave the row blank. Semi automatic means there is a foot shifter but no clutch lever to squeeze. A kid can concentrate on balance and throttle without a third thing to get wrong, and then graduate to a clutch when they are ready.
It is a kick start, which is worth knowing before you buy. A small rider may need a hand with it for the first few months, and some parents see that as a downside and some see it as part of learning to run your own machine.
Who this one is for
First time two wheel riders who can already ride a bicycle without thinking about balance. Roughly seven to eleven, depending on the kid. If they still wobble on a bicycle, buy an ATV or a go-kart first.

Questions people actually ask
Kick start only. Is that a problem for a kid?
Sometimes at first. A seven year old will usually need a hand for a few months and then figure it out. Some families love that, some would rather have a button. If you want electric start, buy the QG-213A instead, it is a hundred dollars more and fully automatic.
Semi automatic means what exactly?
There is a foot shifter with three gears but no clutch lever. The rider only thinks about balance and throttle, which is the right number of things for a first bike.
Is my kid ready for two wheels?
One test: can they ride a bicycle without thinking about balance? If yes, they are ready. If they still wobble, buy a go-kart or a quad this year and come back next year. There is no rush and a scared first ride sets a kid back a season.
How heavy is it really?
128 pounds net. Light enough that a parent can pick it up one handed and most kids can right it themselves, which matters because they will drop it.
